Summer is here! Thank you for an awesome school year!

Dear House of Dragons,

Congratulations—we have reached the end of another incredible school year!

As we reflect on this journey, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to you for your unwavering support, partnership, and trust. This year’s success would not have been possible without the strong connection between home and school. Because of you, our students were able to grow academically, socially, and emotionally—and we are so proud of all they have accomplished.

Together, we achieved significant academic gains across multiple areas, and that progress is a direct reflection of the collective effort of our students, staff, and families. Thank you for standing with us and reinforcing that #LearningIsRequired.

As we close out the school year, this is an important reminder that all 8th grade students must return their laptops and chargers tomorrow, May 26. Please ensure both items are submitted, as missing materials may result in an obligation that could impact high school registration.

To our 8th grade families, this moment is especially meaningful. Your children are preparing to take the next big step into high school, and we could not be more proud. They are leaving DJMS stronger, more confident, and ready for what lies ahead.

We wish each of our 8th grade students the very best as they begin this new chapter. Continue to dream big, stay focused, and carry the lessons learned here with you. And always remember—once a Dragon, always a Dragon. You will always have a home here.

Thank you again for your continued partnership and support throughout this school year. We wish you and your family a safe, restful, and joyful summer.

PBIS @ DJMS

May PBIS Calendar

At Denn John Middle School, we believe that positive behaviors should be recognized and celebrated. That’s why we use the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) framework to help students grow not only academically, but also socially and emotionally.

Our PBIS values are represented by F.I.R.E.:
  • Focused – Staying on task and giving your best effort.
  • Integrity – Doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.
  • Respect – Treating yourself, others, and property with care.
  • Engaged in Learning – Actively participating in lessons and school activities.
Students are rewarded with Dragon Dollars when they show these values in action. Each month, students can use their Dragon Dollars to participate in exciting school events and activities. This not only motivates students but also reinforces the importance of good behavior and strong character.

Thank you, parents, for supporting us in encouraging students to live out our values each day! Together, we are building a school culture where #LearningIsRequired and Dragons thrive.

At Home Support

Here's how you can help:

As we approach the end of the 4th quarter, we want to emphasize that grades are coming to a close, and this is a critical time for all students.

By now, all students should be actively working with their teachers to understand their current grade status and what is needed to finish the year successfully. We strongly encourage families to have conversations with their child and review grades regularly.

Please note that in order to be promoted to the next grade level, students must earn a yearlong average of 60% or higher in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

Additionally, Summer School opportunities are extremely limited this year. Not all students will have access to credit recovery, making it even more important that students take advantage of this time now.

We ask that you partner with your child and their teachers to develop a clear plan of action to close out the school year positively. This may include completing missing assignments, improving assessment scores, and staying engaged during these final days.
