Fostering a Positive Climate Where Every Dragon Thrives
At Denn John Middle School, we are proud to implement PBIS—Positive Behavior Interventions and Support—as a proactive and research-based approach to student discipline and school climate.
PBIS focuses on teaching, modeling, and reinforcing positive behaviors rather than relying solely on traditional discipline methods. Research shows that PBIS significantly reduces problem behaviors, enhances the school environment, and improves academic outcomes for all students.
At the heart of our PBIS program are our F.I.R.E. Expectations:
Focused
Integrity
Respect
Engaged in Learning
These values guide student behavior across all areas of campus—from classrooms to hallways, the cafeteria, and beyond. Every staff member uses these expectations consistently to help students learn, grow, and succeed.
At DJMS, we believe that good behavior should be recognized and rewarded. Students who demonstrate F.I.R.E. expectations can earn Dragon Dollars from teachers and staff.
Dragon Dollars can be used to:
Shop in the PBIS Store for school supplies and fun items
Attend special events like games, socials, and celebrations
Earn individual or classroom-based incentives
Please note: Dragon Dollars are non-transferable and must be used by the student who earned them.
Encourages positive relationships between students and staff
Builds a supportive school community
Reduces referrals and disruptions
Increases student motivation, engagement, and performance
At Denn John Middle School, our goal is to build a positive social culture where pro-social behaviors are explicitly taught, practiced, and reinforced. When all adults respond to behavior consistently—and students are recognized for their positive actions—every Dragon benefits.
Together, we make DJMS a place where #LearningIsRequired and every student is empowered to succeed.
Go Dragons! 🔥🐉
