At Denn John Middle School (DJMS), we believe that a consistent dress code helps promote a focused, respectful, and safe learning environment. Our dress code reflects school pride while allowing students to express themselves appropriately.
All students are expected to follow the DJMS dress code daily:
Students must wear collared polo shirts in the following solid colors:
Red
Black
White
Navy
Grey
Students may wear:
Black or tan pants/shorts
Blue jeans (no rips unless worn with leggings underneath)
Knee-length skirts in black, tan, or denim
Not Allowed:
Ripped jeans without leggings
Shorts, skirts, or pants that show skin or underwear above the knee
For safety reasons, students must wear:
Closed-toe shoes every day
Not allowed:
Sandals
Flip flops
Crocs
Students may not wear hats, hoods, bandanas, or other head attire inside the building.
Exceptions will be made for religious or medical reasons with proper documentation.
Every Thursday is College Day at DJMS!
To support our AVID college and career readiness program, students may wear any college or university t-shirt with dress code-appropriate bottoms. Show your college spirit every Thursday!
Following the dress code helps us build a positive school culture and keeps the focus on learning. Students who do not follow the policy may be asked to change and could receive a disciplinary referral.
If you have any questions about the dress code or need assistance obtaining appropriate attire, please contact the school deans or the assistant principal over discipline—we’re here to help!
